Hayes Family FutureIt was Thanksgiving one year hence.
We were all in a house with a white picket fence
The great room was twice as big as we needed
And I distinctly recall us all being seated
Grandpa at the head with grandmother dear
And every Hayes family bigger this year
Each uncle and aunt in remarkable health
Passed around hundreds of dollars in wealth
Cousins with smiles much brighter this year
Accepted the bills with eyes full of cheer
The turkey was carved and we bowed to give thanks
And as I looked up- one was gone from our ranks
Yes, someone was gone though I couldn’t say who
I think it was me or it could have been you
My memory of that day seems to be growing fuzzy
But grandpa was there, on second thought, was he?
Well, that’s all in the future now so let’s live in the present
And try extra hard to make our memories pleasant
Can You Believe that Airport Guard?Amy sat on the plane with a nervous gut turning
Feeling the engine should surely be burning
I drove to the airport nervous as well
Knowing the airport was busy as hell
The plane came in smoothly; its wheels touched the pavement
We both had arrived just the way we arranged it
Then came a call, “See you soon, we’re just docking”
A Policeman pursued me to discourage car blocking
He forced me to drive the airport circuit at least a dozen times
And threatened to give me jail time and fines
DORK.
